Day 1: Arrival – Muscat
Arrival at Muscat International airport – Muscat. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 2: Muscat City Tour – Muscat
Visit Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque (except on Fridays), a splendor of a unique Islamic architecture. Drive through the Ministries. Stop at the traditional Mutrah Souk. Get a glance at Oman’s culture, at the Museum. Stroll along for a view of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos’s Palace, the Al Alam Palace. Stop at the Amouage shop in Sabco, to learn about the most valuable perfume in the world, the gift of Kings. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 3: Muscat – Wadi Shab – Sur
Start the tour by Bimah sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with inviting blue-green water. Continue to Wadi Shab and enjoy a walk through the wadi. You will see pools appearing before you and may enjoy a refreshing swim. Enter Wadi Tiwi with its green pools and lush plantations. We head onto Qalhat to see Bibi Mariam Tomb (closed for archeological searches). Head to Sur, famous for its trading and Dhow Building Yard. The
turtles come to lay their eggs at night. Overnight in Sur.
Day 4: Sur – Wadi Bani Khalid – Wahiba Sands
Drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the most picturesque wadis in Oman where water flows all year round. Continue to Wahiba sands, with its golden sand dunes. Meet a Bedouin family, do some dune bashing. Enjoy the tranquility of the desert. Overnight in
Wahiba sands.
Day 5: Wahiba Sands – Ibra – Nizwa
Transfer to Ibra for a closer look at the watchtowers proudly looking over villages from the top of the hills, then to Nizwa, which was once the capital of Oman, visit the traditional and craft Souk and the Fort of Nizwa with its large circular tower. Overnight in Nizwa.
Day 6: Nizwa – Birkat Al Mauz – Jebel Akhdar
Enjoy the palm plantation in Birkat Al Mauz and visit the old village where you can see the mud houses. The view point will give you the opportunity to take a great picture of Oman’s natural beauty. Visit Jebel Akhdar or “Green Mountain”. This mountain offers discovery and adventure. Experience a sense of awe as you witness nature’s primordial beauty as seen in the soaring peeks and plunging canyons. The rise of terraces on extremely steep mountain slopes. There is a trek that goes from one village to another through the terraces and along the falaj system. There is a splendid view of the hanging terraces and continue to the village of Wadi Bani Habib. Return to Nizwa. Overnight in Nizwa.
Day 7: Tanuf – Bahla – Jabrin – Al Hamra – Misfat Al Abreen
Visit the ruins of Old Tanuf, a relic from bombings during the Jabal War. Continue to Bahla, a charming little town surrounded by an old 12 km long wall; visit the place where they make pottery and the old Fort of Bahla, one of the oldest. Continue to Jabrin and visit the Fort which was once the home of the Imam and was built to be a Palace at first, before being used for military purposes. Visit Al Hamra, where you can find some of the oldest preserved houses in Oman. Your journey ends in Misfat Al Abreen, set in a stunning landscape above terraced plantations of date palms. Overnight in Misfah.
Day 8: Wadi Nakhr – Jebel Shams
Transfer to Jebel Shams. Enter Wadi Nakhr, a narrow canyon, geologically spectacular, being one of the deepest canyons on the planet. Go deep inside to visit the village where the main activity is weaving, especially Omani rugs. Continue to the top of Jebel Shams, “Sun Mountain”, Oman’s highest peak, 3009 M. Overnight in Jebel Shams.
Day 9: Wadi Bani Awf – Bilad Sayt – Nakhal – Muscat
Journey in the mountains and villages. The track to Wadi Bani Awf is an exhilarating trip over the mountains. Visit Bilad Sayt, a tranquil mountain hamlet tucked away in the mountains. The journey continues to Nakhal and its 17th Century Fort built on the peak of a mountain, surrounded by a beautiful oasis. Visit the warm springs of Ayn A’Thowarah. Return to Muscat. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 10: Departure
Transfer to Muscat international airport for departure.
