Day 01: Arrival – Muscat
Arrival at Muscat International airport – Muscat. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 02: Muscat – Wadi Shab – Sur
Head to Bimah sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with inviting blue-green water. Continue to Wadi Shab which means a “Valley between the cliffs”, if you wish, enjoy a walk through the wadi. Going up the wadi you will soon see pools appearing before you and you may enjoy a refreshing swim in those pools. Enter Wadi Tiwi with its green pools and lush plantations. Then proceed onto Qalhat famous for its history of exports to and imports of spices from India, where you can see Bibi Mariam Tomb (closed for archeological searches). Your next stop is in Sur, famous for its trading and Dhow Building Yard. The sheltered lagoon is a perfect picture. The turtles come to lay their eggs at night. Overnight in Sur.
Day 03: Sur – Wadi Bani Khalid – Wahiba Sands
Drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the most picturesque wadis in Oman where water flows all year round. Your journey continues to Wahiba sands, with its golden sand dunes. Meet a Bedouin family, do some dune bashing. Enjoy the tranquility of the desert. Overnight in Wahiba Sands.
Day 04: Wahiba Sands – Nizwa – Bahla
Head to Ibra and then to Nizwa. Nizwa was once the capital of Oman, go through the traditional and craft Souk. Visiting the Fort of Nizwa with its large circular tower. Continue your journey to Bahla, a charming little town surrounded by an old 12 km long wall; visit the place where they make pottery and the old Fort of Bahla, one of the oldest in Oman. Overnight in Nizwa.
Day 05: Nizwa – Jebel Shams – Wadi Nakhr
Transfer to Jebel Shams. Along the road, Wadi Nakhar, a narrow canyon. It is a stunning beautiful place, and is geologically spectacular, being one of the deepest canyons on the planet. Go deep inside to visit the village where the main activity is weaving, especially Omani rugs. Continue to the top of Jebel Shams, “Sun Mountain”, Oman’s highest peak, 3009 m. Overnight in Jebel Shams.
Day 06: Misfat Al Abreen – Wadi Bani Awf – Bilad Sayt – Muscat
Head first towards Misfat Al Abreen, set in a stunning landscape above terraced plantations. This is a rare sight in Oman as most palms are grown on the plains. The track to Wadi Bani Awf is an exhilarating trip over the mountains. Bilad Sayt, a tranquil mountain hamlet tucked away in the mountains. The road is steep to go on the other side but worth the trip. Return to Muscat. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 07: Muscat – Muscat International airport
Transfer to Muscat International airport for departure.
